About
Greetings! I’m a data scientist and consultant based in Copenhagen, and I’d like to take you on a journey through my professional life.
My latest adventure unfolds at Boston Consulting Group (BCG), where I’ve been a proud member since September 2022. Here, I channel my passion for mathematics, statistics, computer science, and economics/finance into driving business impact. My role involves harnessing the power of data by analyzing extensive sources and crafting machine learning models that shape intelligent decisions.
Now, let’s rewind the clock a bit.
In 2017, I embarked on a journey to Copenhagen, leaving behind my beautiful birthplace, Istanbul. It was here that my professional story truly began. I started at Nordea in July 2019 as a Risk Quant, specializing in the calculation of Credit Risk (IRB) and Market Risk (IMA). My journey was marked by my dedication to data, and I found myself in the midst of a vibrant Danish capital, continuously improving my skills.
But let’s go even before, to a time where I was a bit younger. Before my career at Nordea, my academic journey led me to Bogazici University, where I graduated in 2017 with a BSc in Electrical & Electronics Engineering, earning an Honors Certificate. During my time there, I dived into the intricacies of sign language detection using 2D pose estimation model outputs for my bachelor thesis, under the mentorship of Bulent Sankur and Lale Akarun.
Fuelled by my passion for data and learning, I embarked on a new chapter at the [Technical University of Denmark (DTU)] in 2017 by getting granted Tev-Garring full scholarship . There, I earned my MSc in Human Centered Artificial Intelligence, a program that expanded my horizons. My journey at DTU included exploring diverse topics, from Social Graph Analysis to Deep Learning and Tools for Big Data. I also had the privilege of contributing as a Teaching Assistant for the “Introduction to Machine Learning and Data Mining” course, where I guided students and evaluated their projects. The pinnacle of my academic journey was marked by a groundbreaking master’s thesis titled “Credit Default Swap (CDS) Spread Estimation using Machine Learning.” This research, conducted in collaboration with Mehmet Eyyupoglu, was jointly supervised by Alexander Subbotin, Ole Winther, and Shengyao Zhu. My dedication was recognized with the highest grade (12) for my thesis.
My journey is an ongoing exploration and learning. As I continue my professional growth, I invite you to explore my detailed career history in my CV and connect with me on LinkedIn.
